Jacky Samson graduated from the Paris Faculty of Medicine in 1972, specializing in Stomatology, and has also completed various additional training courses (Cervico-facial carcinology, University of Paris XI; Medical studies relating to legal compensation for personal injury, University of Paris V; Medical and odontological expertise studies, University of Paris VII; Maxillo-facial rehabilitation and prosthetics, University of Paris VI).

At the same time, he completed his military service (18 months) as a cooperating doctor in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

He defended his doctoral thesis in Medicine in 1978. He then moved to Geneva, where he spent his entire career as a lecturer at the University of Geneva (1978-2010).

He has risen through the ranks of the medical profession.

He climbed all the academic ladders: Privat-docent of the Faculty of Medicine in 1991, then Professor in 1995. He was in charge of the Division of Stomatology and Oral Surgery from 1995 to 2010.

He has supervised 55 theses for the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and is the author of almost 300 scientific publications.

He is the co-author of 4 books: La muqueuse buccale, de la clinique au traitement, Med’Com 2009; Les lésions de la muqueuse buccale, diagnostic différentiel, Information dentaire 2020; Les lésions de la muqueuse buccale, diagnostic différentiel, 2nd edition, Information dentaire 2021; Les lésions de la muqueuse buccale, diagnostic différentiel, 3rd edition, Information dentaire 2023.

He was Scientific Vice-President of the Société Francophone de Médecine Buccale et Chirurgie Buccale from 1994 to 2012 and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Médecine Buccale Chirurgie Buccale from 2001 to 2014.

Finally, he is a founding member of the SDS (Society for Dental Science – Switzerland) and its President since its creation in 1999.
